On September 20, 2018, Professor Erika Kraemer-Mbula, Associate Professor at the University of Johannesburg, gave a talk at the University of Ottawa. Prof. Kramer-Mbula is Open AIR’s lead researcher on innovation in the informal sector. Her presentation discussed innovation hubs in various African countries, paying particular attention to the diversity of hubs and coexistence of traditional science parks and the new modalities of hubs, such as Makerspaces. This presentation explored the activities of the hubs in connection to young innovative African entrepreneurs who are increasingly looking to entrepreneurship in order to secure their future.
